Eligard®
Partnership with Astellas Pharma
In January 2004, MediGene closed an agreement with the pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma (previously Yamanouchi) for the commercialization of Eligard® in Europe.
Astellas Pharma, one of the three top leaders in the European urology field of medicine, became MediGene's sales partner for its first drug. Mid of 2010, MediGene sold the full European
marketing and distribution rights to Eligard® to Astellas Pharma Europe Ltd. MediGene still participates in future revenue growth of this drug.

Drug Candidates
Partnerships for our technologies and drug candidates
EndoTAG®-1
EndoTAG®-1 is a novel composition of paclitaxel combined with neutral and cationic lipids. EndoTAG®-1 is designed to suppress tumor growth by
targeting activated endothelial cells, which are required for the formation of new blood vessels in tumors. MediGene has successfully completed two phase II clinical trials of
EndoTAG®-1 in pancreatic cancer and triple-negative breast cancer, and has recently developed a more cost-effective production process. EndoTAG®-1 has orphan
drug status in Europe and the USA, which provides benefits in terms of development, the approval process, and, under certain circumstances, the commercialization of drugs.
MediGene is currently searching for partners in order to conduct the phase III clinical trial in pancreatic cancer of this promising candidate.
RhuDex®
RhuDex® is being developed by MediGene as an agent to treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. It is an orally available CD80 antagonist that blocks T-cell
activation and thus has both an immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory effect. Several phase I as well as a phase Ila pilot trial of this drug candidate were already conducted.
MediGene intends to outlicense this immunological drug candidate once proof of concept has been established, if not earlier.
AAVLP vaccine technology
The AAVLP platform developed by MediGene is an innovative technology platform for the development of prophylactic vaccines that can protect the body against new infections. It is based on
adeno-associated virus-like particles (AAVLP), which serve as a basic structure for the development of new vaccines. MediGene is currently conducting research into the use of AAVLP
technology to treat infections and various types of cancer, as well as the use of AAV libraries for the systematic identification of suitable vaccine candidates. To advance this technology,
MediGene has closed a development collaboration agreement with The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.
Based on the data of further preclinical studies, MediGene will decide on the further development or strategic options for the AAVLP project.
Cooperation with scientific institutions
In order to support the development of our research projects, we built up an international scientific network through partnerships. Academic and clinical contacts and
cooperations have been established with leading hospitals and institutions in Europe and in North America.
In case of any questions regarding licensing, please contact Dr. Sandra von Meier, Business Development.
